Hi ! I'm Pacqui, and I'm a Filipino filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. I'm in the Philippines now, working on my most personal film yet. It's a short doc called SUNOD-SUNOD that follows the Shakespearean tale of my late grandfather whose extravagant lifestyle cost him his vast fortune and ultimately his family. Through personal storytelling, portraits of everyday life, and absurd re-enactments, I hope to break through the myth of who he was and hopefully provide catharsis for those he left behind.

WHY WE NEED THE FUNDS:
This $5k would provide much needed emergency funds for our shoot here in the Philippines, allowing us to pay for equipment, travel, and food for our small crew. This will give us enough cushion so that we can place our full focus on achieving our vision for the film. We've shot about 50% of the doc already, and this next section is the most crucial yet. We'll be visiting the sites where many of my family members' memories of him take place, and also conducting pivotal interviews to the story.

PROJECT SUMMARY:
A filmmaker explores the lasting impact of his grandfather’s lost fortune. Blending fiction and memory, this visual and oral history weaves a Shakespearean tale of legacy, class, and love. We move between echoes of a once lavish life in the Philippines and vignettes of a mundane suburban existence in America. Each person's relationship to the family mythology is interrogated through surreal reenactments and intimate conversation, attempting to bridge the divide between two generations of Filipinos and provide catharsis for the actors in this play of circumstance.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:

My most recent short film Awit Natin is in the midst of its festival run where we were awarded the Jury Prize for Best Short Film at NFFTY and were official selections of Oscar-Qualifying festivals like LA Asian Pacific Film Fest and the San Jose Short Film Festival. Many of you seeing this likely contributed to that film, and I will be eternally grateful for your support. My experience sharing that film with the world has been life changing, and I'm so excited to continue that momentum with this new one. I couldn’t have made Awit Natin without you, and I can’t make Sunod-Sunod without you either. I would love for you to be a part of it.
