Paco’s Heart is Failing — But He’s Still Fighting
Recently, Paco began having trouble breathing, slowing down, and showing signs that something was terribly wrong. After rushing him to specialists, we found out he has congestive heart failure. He is now under the care of a cardiologist and specialist at Washington State University, getting the advanced treatment he needs to stay stable. Seeing my brave little boy struggle for air broke me in a way I can’t put into words. But he’s still fighting. He still looks up at me with those same bright eyes that have gotten me through so many tough days. I can’t give up on him — I won’t.
Paco’s Story — Why He Means Everything to Me
I rescued Paco in Los Angeles, and from that very first day, he has never left my side. He’s been with me through heartbreak, moves, changes, and challenges I didn’t think I’d survive. He’s my constant, my comfort, my tiny shadow who sleeps curled up right against me. Paco isn’t “just a dog.” He is family in the truest, deepest sense. Anyone who has met him knows he’s special, full of fire, sass, love, and that unstoppable little spirit that earned him the name Pocket Pistol. I saved him once. Now I’m trying to save him again.
His Medical Needs
Paco’s care now includes specialized visits with his WSU cardiologist, heart medications to help him breathe and reduce fluid, x-rays, ultrasounds, and ongoing monitoring. There are also emergency visits when episodes get worse, and supportive care to keep him comfortable and safe. These treatments are expensive, and they will be ongoing for the rest of his life.
Why I’m Asking for Help
We're doing everything we can to keep Paco comfortable and give him the care he needs, but the costs have become overwhelming. Any help — even a few dollars — makes a difference for him.
