Hello, my name is Sarah, and I am fundraising on behalf of our gardener, and our friend, Javier, whose uncle, Pablo Lopez, was detained on Wednesday, the 7th by ICE and deported to Mexico.
Javier is a gardener for more than 20 families in the Laurel Canyon community, and has been a steady, trusted presence for many households over the years. I am helping share this fundraiser so that our community can support his family during an unexpected and devastating crisis.
Pablo’s story, in Javier’s words:
My name is Javier, and I am asking the community to support my uncle, Pablo Lopez.
Last Wednesday, Pablo was detained by ICE while working in the Los Angeles area. During the detention, he was treated roughly and became very ill. On Friday, he was deported to Puebla, Mexico.
Because of his serious medical condition, Pablo did not feel physically able to wait for his court date. Out of fear for his health, he signed a voluntary deportation agreement.
Pablo lived and worked in the United States for 35 years. He was a hardworking man who paid taxes, supported his family, and contributed to his community. His only offense was not being a U.S. citizen.
This sudden deportation has left him without stability, medical care, or resources. We are raising funds to help cover medical expenses, basic living costs, and support as he tries to rebuild his life in Mexico.
Any support, whether through donating or sharing, means more than Javier can express.
Anything truly helps. Nothing is too small.
Thank you for standing with this family.
