Help Ozzy Fight FIP
Donation protected
Last week, our world changed.
I took Ozzy to the vet because he was losing weight and was not eating. He wasn't himself and was lethargic. Ozzy is only 1 year old. After bloodwork and many tests, we have come to conclusion that Ozzy has FIP, or feline infectious peritonitis. FIP is caused by a coronavirus and is very common in cats, but only 5% of cats infected with feline coronavirus will develop FIP.
It initially looked like there would be no hope for Ozzy. Cats diagnosed with FIP are likely to only live a month after diagnosis. Up until June of last year, treatment for FIP was medication through the "black market" only, but is newly available for cats.
Research is limited, and my vet has only treated one cat with FIP with this medication. Medication is costly. At the lowest, medication will cost $110/vial, and Ozzy will likely need at least 4-5 vials. These costs are on top of tests, bloodwork, and numerous vet visits.
As you all know, it is just me, a working college student, and my cats. My babies are my entire world. And Ozzy is only 1 year old. I am doing my best to keep up with continuing costs, but it is expensive. But, I feel like for how young he is, he deserves a chance to try to fight this disease. While not expected, I'm asking for any support to help Ozzy continue this fight. He has been strong, doing his best to eat and drink a little every day, and spending lots of time resting and taking it easy with Hendrix and I. As mentioned, without medication, he will likely live less than a month. Thank you all in advance.
