United States Air Force Bands student duet initiative
Hello, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Owen Dorogi. I am 16 years old and am wrapping up my sophomore year at Licking Valley High School. Once I graduate from high school I am planning on majoring in music performance in college.
I have been given an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate as a member of the Bands of America Honors Band in the 2022 Tournament of Roses® Parade in Pasadena, California, on January 1, 2022. There are more than 300 amazing musicians from across the country who have been selected to represent their schools and communities as members of the Honor Band. I have worked hard for this opportunity by practicing and actively participating in the Licking Valley High School marching band, concert band, jazz band and the combo which played for the show choir. I have committed thousands of hours to make myself a stronger player, leader, and person. This incredible opportunity only happens once every 4 years and has been provided to me by Music for all, one of the largest and most influential national music education organizations in the United States. With this, I am including a YouTube video of me playing excerpts of Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa, which was the piece I used to audition for the Honor Band.
While being chosen to participate in this elite ensemble is a great opportunity, the cost of participating in the program is substantial. Given this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, my parents would also love to be able to be able to share in this amazing experience with me and watch my learning and performing throughout the week in California. Please help me realize my dream of participation as a member of this elite ensemble with a personal donation. With your help and support along with other generous contributors, my goal is to raise $9,000 to help with airfare, housing, and participation in all the events that will be taking place for my parents and me.
