Help Owen Fight Leukemia
Donation protected
On Wednesday, May 14th, our world turned upside down.
Our sweet boy Owen had been sick for weeks with off-and-on stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, shoulder aches, and fevers spiking up to 101.4°F. We were in and out of doctors' offices and the ER, always told it was a GI bug or viral infection, and that he’d bounce back in a few days. But Owen wasn’t getting better.
At a 10:00 AM check-up with his primary care doctor, we pushed for more answers. The doctor ordered blood work, a nasal swab, and a urine test, then sent us for an ultrasound at Navarro Hospital in Corsicana, TX.
Later that day, we received a call that would begin a life-changing journey. The doctor told us to head immediately to the ER—Owen was dehydrated and needed fluids. Once there, they performed multiple blood draws, CT scans of his abdomen and head, and then gave us devastating news:
Owen’s white blood cell count was over 247. A healthy count is around 13.
He was dangerously anemic and struggling to breathe.
We were told he was at risk of bleeding out or suffering a stroke. The medical team rushed to airlift him to Children’s Hospital in Dallas for critical care.
Upon arrival, Owen was admitted right away. He began receiving fluids, steroids, and antibiotics to bring his white blood cell count down and raise his hemoglobin and platelet levels. That night, the oncologists met with us and shared a possibility we never imagined: Owen may have leukemia.
On Thursday, May 15th at 4:00 PM, it was confirmed. Our brave, funny, energetic boy has been diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia—an aggressive blood cancer that begins in immature white blood cells in the bone marrow.
Owen started chemotherapy that very night at 9:00 PM. He’ll remain at Children’s Hospital for at least the next 29 days undergoing intensive treatment. After that, we’ll be traveling back to Dallas once a week for the next 7–8 months, with years of ongoing care ahead.
We live 76 miles one way from the hospital, and this journey will be long and challenging. We’re asking for any help you can offer to support Owen’s medical care, travel costs, and our ability to be by his side throughout it all.
Owen is a strong, courageous boy, and we are doing everything we can to help him fight. The survival rate for his type of leukemia is 80%, and we are holding on to hope and faith every step of the way.
We understand times are tough for many. If you're able, please consider donating—or sharing this page to help us reach others. Every little bit means the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting Owen and our family during this incredibly difficult time.
With love,
Owen’s Family
