Hi everybody, I’m currently undergoing a power wheelchair fiasco. I’ve waited 4 1/2 months for my new parts to arrive. I picked up my repaired chair on Friday. Sunday evening, I underwent what’s called a catastrophic complete system failure because of a tilt error in the wiring running from the mainframe of the chair to the supercomputer in the joystick. I called my repair branch this morning, and they said I owe $3000 before they’ll come out to either repair the chair or give me a rental power wheelchair. My backup chair was released to a scrap broker because it was beyond its expected useful life of 5 to 7 years and was no longer viable in terms of being repaired. This chair was purchased in 2019 and is approaching the end of its expected useful life, but I shouldn’t expect a new model until at least 2026 due to extenuating circumstances. Without this fundraiser, I will be homebound for an unspecified period of time. I will have to shut down my vibrant resale business and abandon my current book tour.

My repair branch informed me that there is an outstanding bill for $3000 from 2019, of which I had no knowledge.

Without these funds, I have no help of leaving my house, engaging in the community, running my daily errands and other activities of daily living, prior commitments to friends and family, and my overall physical, spiritual, mental, and psychiatric well-being.
