Help Overcome Paralysis: Donate for Home Modifications
Donation protected
One month ago, my life changed. I had my fifth spine surgery at the Cleveland Clinic for a spinal cord herniation between T6-T7. When I woke up from surgery, I was paralyzed from the chest area down. My worst fear after waking up from spinal surgery was a reality. After 8 days in the hospital where I had my surgery (6 of which in the ICU), I was transferred to the Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospital in Avon. I was there for 3 weeks, and just got back home on Wednesday, March 19th.
So many things are more difficult when you are paralyzed. Numerous changes needed to be made to our home. We needed a ramp installed, grab bars, a hospital bed, incontinence supplies, physical changes to our bathroom, an external catheter, special commode, diapers, chux, gloves, wipes, etc. Some of these things were covered by our insurance but A LOT were not.
I am also going to therapy in Westlake multiple times a week, and with my husband going back and forth to Avon the past month, it’s getting expensive!
Please do not feel obligated to donate anything (your thoughts and prayers mean everything to me) but with me not able to work for a while, the monetary aspect is adding more stress to an already stressful situation.
With months of intensive therapy, they are hopeful I will walk and stand again. Until then, thank you in advance for anything you are willing to donate. Much love to all of you!
