I am creating this go fund me to seek financial assistance from friends and family who have the ability to offer support while I navigate through medical debt and recover from my second major surgery in three years. This is a very difficult letter to draft as I prefer to manage issues such as these privately, but my circumstances have unveiled that it is time to ask for help. Between 2022- now I have undergone extensive medical testing at Johns Hopkins to address neurological issues that have led to the medical diagnosis of Dysautonomia with Peripheral Sympathetic Pain. There is no cure for Dysautonomia so I will make life changes and receive continued therapy to achieve comfort moving forward. Separately, during testing for this diagnosis, a shoulder injury has required two reconstructive surgeries that have put me out of work for six months after each repair. My insurance company has denied coverage for the second surgery and after months of disputing bills I am left with $20k worth of medical debt. I was denied disability assistance from the state of Maryland after my first surgery and although my disability claim has been approved after the second surgery, I am unable to keep up with regular living expenses like my mortgage, phone, car payment, etc. As I work diligently to restore my physical and mental health I am emotionally crunching under the stress of accruing debt and am reaching out to all who can help me find relief. The combination of surgery recovery and an autoimmune disease that causes failures within my autonomic nervous system has been one of my most difficult journeys and while I am constantly educating myself on ways to make life feel normal again, the financial hit I've taken has left me with no option other than to open up about what I have been going through and ask for help.
