Help Overcome Medical Bills for Vision Loss

A message to all my family and friends - I’m writing you all asking for your help during a very dark time in my life. Over the past few months, I have slowly lost almost all of my vision in my right eye. Severe headaches, dizziness, and episodes of blurred vision became a daily battle for me. After months of confusion and countless doctor visits, I received a diagnosis that no one saw coming—Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), a disorder where excessive cerebrospinal fluid causes pressure inside the skull, mimicking the effects of a brain tumor.
The condition struck aggressively, and I soon lost 80% of the vision in my right eye due to the immense pressure damaging my optic nerve. Doctors warned me that without urgent intervention, I could lose even more—possibly all—of my sight. Faced with an impossible reality, I had no choice but to undergo a risky optic nerve sheath fenestration, a delicate procedure meant to relieve pressure and preserve what little vision I had left.
The surgery was terrifying, but I fought through it with unwavering hope and support from my family, friends, and the amazing doctors and nurses at Georgetown Hospital. Now, I am in recovery, learning to navigate a world that looks entirely different than before. Daily tasks that once seemed effortless are now challenges—walking down the street, reading, even recognizing faces. But despite everything, I refuse to take life for granted ever again.
Every day is a lesson in patience and perseverance. I am still adjusting to new limitations, finding strength in small victories, and embracing every moment with newfound appreciation. Yet, while I continue to fight for my health and independence, I face an overwhelming burden—the crushing weight of mounting medical bills from hospital stays, specialists, procedures, and ongoing treatments.
Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was not fully covered by my insurance and several specialists who have helped me along my medical journey were not covered by my insurance either. I am hoping to raise $10,000 to cover the remaining costs of my surgery, outpatient specialists, as well as my three hospitals stays, and countless diagnostic tests that insurance can’t cover.
I have always been independent, but now, I really need some help. The cost of my care has become impossible to manage alone, and I am reaching out to my community for support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the financial strain and allow me to focus on healing.
If you can, please donate and share my story.
Thank you to everyone for your love and support!
