In January 2024, the world got turned upside down for myself and my family. I suffered a stroke while already having a chronic heart disease called “Danon's disease,” which causes hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. After my stroke, I was totally dependent on my mother as my caregiver. In September 2024, my heart was out of rhythm, and I had an ablation of my heart. Here I am again at the grace of my mother. I am out of work, medical bills are piling up, and medication costs are through the roof. I have been hospitalized 20 times within the last 7 months. I have had 3 cardiac cath procedures in the last 2 months. I use a wheelchair and walker due to increased shortness of breath, the aftereffect of the ablation, and weakened muscles from Danon's disease.
The doctors still have no answers as to why I'm having increased shortness of breath. I have had major testing and research done to try to find the answers, to no avail.
I am a hard worker and dedicated to any task I put my mind to! One of my biggest goals is to reach out and help people understand and know that this can happen to anyone. A lot of guidelines say to wait until you are a certain age, weight, or have certain risk factors, but this can be anyone at any time.
The funds raised will be used to help my family with all of my medical bills, medicines, and medical appointments. I plan to take steps into further extensive testing with a possible heart transplant. Further genetic research is suggested that will have additional costs associated in hopes to find answers and to help educate others in this rare and unexpected situation.
Life throws unexpected curveballs, and this is a stark reminder to never take a single day for granted.
Thank you for donating to the cause and sharing my story in hopes to spread heart health awareness and find some answers.
