Every day I fight! Today, I’m fighting throat cancer. Since being diagnosed, I have been through what I hoped and prayed was a successful surgery, followed by five grueling weeks of radiation that have ravaged my body and spirits. Now is the time for faith and healing.

In the midst of my diagnosis and treatment, I had just started a new job, and due to my short tenure, I did not qualify for benefits (health insurance or sick time). I have been off work for nearly four months without pay, covering not only my household bills but also my medical expenses, which include my monthly insurance premium (previously covered by my employer), copays, and prescriptions.

I’m a prideful man who has always taken care of my family and responsibilities, but I now find myself in need of assistance to cover my basic necessities and household bills until I can return to work. Unfortunately, I suffered a setback in my recovery following my radiation treatment. I don’t know when I will be returning to work; I could be off for another six to eight weeks. Cancer sucks; it is not only a physical and mental fight, but I am now finding out it is a financial one as well. I have depleted all my reserves and savings; I need financial support while I allow my body to recover and fight this terrible throat cancer.
