On September 29, 2019, I went to sleep and woke up in a hospital. I underwent many scans and found out I had a tumor in my brain that gave me epilepsy. Three weeks later, I decided to take action and had my first surgery ever, a craniotomy (brain surgery). After testing a piece of that tumor, the doctor called me and told me I had cancer. I have brain cancer. The thought was so immeasurable. I survived and spent the year of COVID at home, catching seizures and relearning many things, including physical movements. I began to relearn life and who I am. I was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma stage 3, which meant the tumor was brain cancer.
I underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, and was cancer-free for three years, but under monitoring in case of return.
The tumor has returned with a vengeance, requiring emergency surgery at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC this October. I will need multiple surgeries.
I will remain in the hospital for some time.
Later this year, I will also have laser brain surgery to deal with this horrible epilepsy.
In six days, I will have my second craniotomy on October 7th, 2025. I am reaching out to raise some money for what I can try to prepare for. I don’t know what is to happen afterward. I’d love to remain strong and hopeful to once again be able to continue living. I need help with my rent as I won’t be able to work. I’ve lost many jobs from seizures over the years but kept moving. I am strong. It is hard to ask for help. I love my support. I love my people and most people I come to meet. Please wish me luck at most. I’ll check back in with y’all on October 8th, I promise.
