Help out with Kelly's upcoming back surgery
Kelly suffered a back injury around 3 months ago which caused severe pain in her lower back and left leg. We tried rest, ice/heat, stretching and chiropractic treatment, but it continued to worsen to the point where she could barely stand or walk without assistance.
At that point Kelly was referred for an MRI and was diagnosed with a herniated disc which is putting pressure on her Sciatic nerve. We have had several consultations with a neurosurgeon and have been following the advised non-surgical treatment options including anti-inflammatory injections/oral medications, an epidural injection and physical therapy along with daily stretching and strengthening exercises.
So far there has been no improvement and at this point it looks as though proceeding with a surgical procedure presents the best chance for recovery. The procedure is a modified microdiscectomy, and is an outpatient procedure in which the herniated portion of the disc is removed and the remaining disc is sewn back together. If there is any calcification around the disc that may cause future issues that will typically be removed as well.
We would greatly appreciate any financial assistance, but most importantly would request that you pray for us to have wisdom to make the right decision on moving forward and that Kelly will be able to get back to full mobility as soon as possible.
