Help Out Siblings In A Crisis

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tay/Teipo and I'm writing this with my sibling, Muriwai. We're fundraising to keep ourselves off the streets of Mackay after our sister-in-law gave us a two-day notice to get out and subsequently blocked communication with her and our brother. Crazy way to start the night, am I right? Our official move-out date is Friday, March 17th, yikes. Although we are trying to stay in good spirits about the situation and keep the jokes cracking, one thing cannot be overlooked: Our financial standing. Yup, two days moving notice doesn't offer much time to prepare, and boy does it bring in tears! Before things get too dark, here is a nice (cropped to fit GoFundMe's portraiture) picture of us together...

We can pay rent after the moving period adequately, however, there are some things we simply cannot organise or afford at this time with our current wages. If you'd like to read the list of fund use, we'd deeply appreciate your consideration and donations (in fact, we might add a pinned message to a corkboard acknowledging everyone donating):

The money donated will be used for the following (listed from top priority):
  • Bond Payment - ~$1200 - this large sum of money required as a guarantee is not easy to acquire when you have inadequate records to prove eligibility for a loan! This is currently our biggest stressor and most urgent need to secure a rental property. Right now, this is all we ask to be paid for as we can manage without the rest for a short time.
  • Additional Moving Costs - $300 - this covers the cost of replacing minimal furniture.
  • Exceeding Funds - if by some miracle in the form of generous souls, we exceed this limit, we will be donating any other proceeds to a local emergency housing organisation for youth. Although we have it tough, we are not blind to other young people in our city in similar positions (or worse) and believe it's important to give return to our community where it is possible.

But who are you supporting?

My name is Teipo (or Tay) and you can blame me for the humorous writing style of this desperate call for help. I am a twenty-two-year-old woman with Maori heritage and adorable bug-eyes. I am pursuing a career in Early Childcare with a passion and when I'm not doing that, I am messily cooking (and thoroughly cleaning up!), journalling and reading about obscure topics.

I'm Muriwai, or Ellis to my friends. I'm 24, and autistic. I have a vested interest in human rights, so it pains me to see our current situation. I also have trauma surrounding moving, which makes things all the more harder.

Thank you for reading our story and we look forward to the prospect of sharing a happy future with you all <3
