Help out Kate while on FMLA

We are all so grateful to be apart of the Meck’s lives. They have been through hell and back, but finally have light at the end of this horrendous tunnel! We are Ashley Rambo and Megan Cavanna, colleagues and dear friends of Kate Meck. After talking with Kate over the weekend, we have decided to start this GoFundMe for her and her family.

After a very long wait, The Meck Family finally has some answers and a generalized treatment plan for Eric following a recent MRI. Kate shared this last message with both of us over the weekend: "They are recommending the largest surgery (removing rectum, anus, colon). They would close up the colostomy and create an ileostomy bag. She (Dr. Sauer) said that she is 60-75% certain that the tumor is currently not cancerous. The majority is mucous but she thinks the type of cancer it is/was grows quickly so they would feel best if he gets rid of everything".

Kate did say that Eric is leaning toward their recommendation however, the earliest she could do the surgery is November 20th but Eric said that is the week of Thanksgiving which is his favorite holiday and Dr. Sauer said that Eric would be fine pushing it back to December 1st.

With pushing back the surgery to December 1st, it would be in The Meck Family's best interest for Kate to be able to take FMLA in the month of December to be able to return back to work after the new year. The problem with taking FMLA is that Kate would be taking the time off WITHOUT PAY. We all know how difficult it can be when income is not consistent.

Kate is considering not taking the time off because of having to go without pay but it would be amazing if we all could pitch in to raise the money to be able to cover Kate's FMLA and the continued costs of medical and household bills, especially during the holiday season.
