Jenniffer & River

Introduction, Jenn & River --
Hey, everyone -- I am Jenn's boyfriend, Chris. Before I get ahead of myself, I wanted to say that everyone I've met comments that Jenn is a hero, and I totally agree. I am writing this GoFundMe after many words of advice by friends, and complete strangers from on the street, to the stretches of Facebook. I'm told a dozen times before now, that we should start a campaign not only for the benefit of Jenn and River, but creating a stepping stone for how YOU can help us spread Jenn's heroic story. We plan on pushing the awareness of Jenn's 'Good Samaritan' headline past the initial stages and, ideally, into further good deeds towards our animal citizens in need. We just first need to start with River, and this headline -- and the ultimate purpose of this is to support Jenn with River in this troubling time.

Jenniffer, dubbed the "Heroine of Highlands" is currently enrolled in a fast-track BSN Nursing Program at Rutgers University. This will restrict a lot of her ability to do what her heart is telling her to about River, and we need your help as there's only so much time in the day to do what we know is right ... Like I said, we want to make this GoFundMe page to include you in River's story, and I personally ask that we -- together -- make this story not only a news headline of a heroic, kind lady saving a dog, but to act as a beacon of courage and inspiration for others to do the same!  (It doesn't hurt to dream. :P)

The Backstory:
(for those who haven't seen it on the news, or heard it on the radio yet!)

I'm going to parallel some of the news story's about this, and include some details I know first-hand, being here with her through this. On Monday, July 30th at about 6:15AM, Jenn was out for her routine morning run with Molly (4yo boxer) towards Veteran's Memorial Park, after seeing me off to work. At the peak of her routine circuit, I know that she stops by the park's shore to view the coming sunrise to take pictures that she often sends me -- as I will miss this with her. As I understand it, Molly had cued Jenn into a faint whimpering down on the shoreline, amidst the deepest rocks. Deep down there, intentionally nestled in the low point to drown (!!!), was a 7 month old pitbull (RIVER!) that was already half-way submerged by the quickly rising tide. Jenniffer said she saw the 7 month old's eyes peering back in duress, and without as much as a second guess (if you know Jenn like we do, you know what I'm talking about!) knew just what to do.

After ensuring River's safety, Jenniffer had then walked to the police dept. a block away from the park with River, whom then called the SPCA -- and the news channels were soon thereafter for the full scoop. As most of you know, her story on ABC, MSNBC, local channels like 4, 7, 9, 11 & 12 and now, you can hear her interviews on local radio stations like 101.5, and 107.1 FM.

She's getting requests to interview via Skype, phone call and in-person by local, national and even international (Canada and the UK!) news sources!

This GoFundMe:
This could be like a Hallmark movie, in all reality ... You can help us provide what the original owners of the lil' guy couldn't. Together, we can turn this little boy's life around 180 degrees.

After having River for almost a week now, and meeting many of the residents here in the Highlands who stop in the middle of the street to shout "HEY, YOU'RE THE LADY THAT SAVED THE DOG FROM DROWNING!", it's apparent to me that it's much more than that; this is an opportunity to come together as a community, and participate for a canine in need. I believe if this event gets large enough, it will stretch across this single instance and towards become a poster-child for similar animal abuse cases.

What you'll asssist with, in Conclusion:
This is meant to support Jenn with River in any way possible. It made perfect sense to start this page as a method to reach out further, through the internet, to the hearts of all who care for animals as she does. With school coming for her in the Fall (SO EXCITED!), she did not plan on having another doggy -- and we could really use your help to support River in this really messed up situation (who can do this to a helpless animal?!), especially when Jenn is away at school.

WHAT FORESEEABLE CIRCUMSTANCES WILL NEED MONEY:
I predict that we need to pay for some medical issues beyond the initial care the SPCA had given him; ongoing food; puppy therapy (after what he's been through), as well as some puppy training courses (his original owners had not leash or potty trained him ... No, I'm not kidding.).  Jenn had Molly trained all the way through to a Good Canine Citizen, and we hope to do the same for River. He's a really young pup. Molly is such a great older sister, and we feel that River needs similar training to Molly ASAP. I do not know what training, ongoing medical costs (he has more symptoms and problems than we thought as he was not taken care of at all), and feeding another growing boy may cost ...

There is a River's Law petition to sign that's come of this. Please sign it. With your help, we can promote this amazing story and help not only River, but ALL ANIMALS KEPT IN INTENTIONALLY MALICIOUS HOUSEHOLDS -- THAT DO NOT DESERVE THESE LITTLE GUYS. And finally, thank God Jenn was IN THE RIGHT PLACE, AT THE RIGHT TIME for River and the outcome is positive.

Thank you for reading this, please consider joining our cause in support of River!
