"Hi Stu. I don't know if you remember me, but I am the oldest Security Officer at The Glen. I have been on sick leave for a while. (Esophageal cancer). I am better now, and hope to be back to work by April. I am forced to sell my Studebaker truck, to pay for a Winter of not working. I wanted to ask permission to post a flyer on The Glen FB page."
This message was from Fish Harris, who has been a long time employee (7+ years)of The Glen, as well as DJ'ed many of our Glen dances and events. He's been off work over the winter to get better and recover. His partner, Diane, also works at The Glen and she took time off to take care of Fish while he was recovering.
The good news is Fish is almost back to full strength and should be back to work in April. Diane is back to work now. The bad news, as you can imagine, is going through a winter with neither of them able to work.
I am posting this for those interested in making a small donation to help out these Glen employees during this time of need. There is no obligation and you can choose to remain anonymous. He didn't ask me to do this but I thought it would be a nice gesture of our community to help out.
I am going to 'accidentally' remove Fish from the group temporarily (maybe he won't notice :) , so I would ask that you don't mention this to him. I'll add him back to the group in a week or so when this is completed.
