Help Darrel 'Emmett' Nelson with medical expenses
Donation protected
On Thursday, July, 30th Darrel had a slight stroke while he was stopped at a truck stop in Ohio. He was taken by ambulance and admitted into the hospital for 5 days. Darrel has been an over the road truck driver for over 30 years. Darrel is always willing to help those as needed and is so generous. Unfortunately he is now out of a job and does not have medical insurance.
While in the hospital for the stroke they found that his heart is extremely weak and working at a very low percentage. In order for him to be discharged from the hospital in Ohio to be able to Dr. around home he has to wear a defibrillator LifeVest at all times. The rental price of this equipment is just shy of $300.00 a month, in addition to being put on new medications costing roughly 400.00 a month.
His sisters were able to make the drive to Ohio this week and pick Darrel up, he is now home resting as much as he can. He will be working with a cardiologist through Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis.
Any money that he is able to raise will go towards his ambulance bill and hospital stay in Ohio as well as his LifeVest, medications and future appointments. It will also help ensure he has a driver to and from appointments as he will not be able to drive for at least 6 months.
We are asking for help for Darrel as medical bills are outrageous especially without insurance, and the last thing he needs is the added stress.
Thankfully he does not have any permanent damage due to his stroke, it was very mild, but almost a blessing to be able to find out about his heart. Going forward lets help Darrel strengthen his heart and get back to feeling well!
