Hi, I am Abigail from Oregon, USA. Here is a quote from our fundraisee (11/18/25):
"My name is Ousman, a 17 year old from the Gambia living with my siblings and my mum. She's far too old to work now; her health condition, also, makes it so she cannot work, so, as a first son, I have every right to stand for my family, even at this age, trying every possible way to feed the family...
but it's not easy...
the majority of The Gambian Peoples are suffering, so I came out here looking for support." More direct quotes from Ousman below.
Ousman is a 17 year old man of God who lives in the Gambia. His family is 6 people. "Mo" is a 8 year old girl, the little leader of the family, who is suffering from chronic malnutrition and food poisoning. A primary food source for this family is scavenged foods, often from waste receptacles. The baby of the family is a pair of 4 year old twin girls, "Mar" and "Isa." "Bin" is a 6 year old girl. Their mother is named, "Fatou," and she is a disabled, windowed mother, age 59. The family is now facing grave consequences after a tragic accident that stole the life of their father in 2024. The following is a message from Ousman, age 17 (11/18/25):
"Help Me Feed My Siblings After Losing Our Dad:
Hello, my name is Ousman, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. Not long ago, my family suffered a devastating loss — we lost our beloved father in a tragic accident. Since that day, life has been incredibly difficult.
As the eldest, the responsibility of caring for my younger siblings has fallen on me. We are struggling to afford even the most basic necessities like food and clean water. Most days, we go to sleep hungry, and it breaks me inside to see my siblings suffer and not be able to provide for them.
We are asking for help to get through this painful time. Every donation — no matter how small — will go toward food, water, and urgent needs to keep us going. Your kindness can bring hope and healing to our broken home.
Please, if you find it in your heart, help us survive and keep our faith alive. God bless you always for your compassion and support.
With gratitude,
Ousman"
All donations will be handled through my J.P. Morgan Chase bank here in Oregon, USA. From there, I will send it through Wave directly to Ousman. This is like VenMo in The Gambia. My home is open to accept physical donation items, all are needed, primarily food, water, winter supplies, and medical supplies. I can drive to pickup near Portland, OR area. Nonetheless, shipping takes months. For this reason, Ousman's family emergency requires financial contributions, no matter how small. One American Dollar is about 75 Gambian Dalasi. Just $1 can make a great difference in the life of this six person family on the brink. Thank you. This is a family of God.
