Help Our Youth to Meet Christ

We are writing to invite you to participate in helping send 75 young people (teens & young adults, along with their catechists) on a Vocational Pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal during the first week of August.

These youth are from St. Joachim Parish in New Britain, in the Hartford Archdiocese. They will be joined by others from the Hartford Archdiocese and the state of Connecticut.

These pilgrimages are truly life-changing for Catholic young people living in the midst of the attacks they face in society, with the lure and the pressures of technology, fitting in at school and with friends, depression and anxiety, suicidal tendencies and a constant anti-catechesis against their faith.

With the previously mentioned battles, along with the upheaval in their lives from COVID, their faith community at St. Joachim has provided the only meaningful and true to connection to Jesus Christ and the witness of His Resurrection.

Previous pilgrimages to Gettysburg, PA (2021), Israel - Holy Land (2022) have helped many of these youth in our parish to discover Jesus Christ in a real, tangible way. They have been enlightened to see that God acts in all of the events of their lives, the concrete sufferings and difficulties and the experiences of joy.

This upcoming pilgrimage to Worth Youth Day in Lisbon will allow each one of them to continue to discern and grow in their Christian vocation and to meet the Holy Father Pope Francis, giving them an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ “on the Way,” as Scripture says, and to hear from the Successor of Peter, who, as the Vicar of Christ, points the way to a concrete relationship with the Risen One.

The cost of the entire trip is $3,500. We write to ask if you are able to sponsor the cost of the pilgrimage for one or more of these young people or make a donation toward helping them attend, for what will be a vital experience for their lives. Anything you are able to contribute is an investment in our treasure, the young people who are the future of our Church. We are grateful for any support you are able to give.

We also encourage you to provide us with any prayer requests you have which we will take to the many holy sites (Marian shrines, tombs of saints) we will visit. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support, and may God bless you 100-fold for anything you are able to contribute.

Le escribimos para invitarle a participar en el envío de 75 jóvenes (adolescentes y jóvenes adultos, junto con sus catequistas) en una peregrinación vocacional a la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud 2023 en Lisboa, Portugal, durante la primera semana de agosto.

Estos jóvenes pertenecen a la parroquia de San Joaquín de New Britain, en la archidiócesis de Hartford. A ellos se unirán otros de la archidiócesis de Hartford y del estado de Connecticut.

Estas peregrinaciones cambian verdaderamente la vida de los jóvenes católicos que viven en medio de los ataques a los que se enfrentan en la sociedad, con el atractivo y las presiones de la tecnología, el encajar en la escuela y con los amigos, la depresión y la ansiedad, las tendencias suicidas y una constante anticatequesis contra su fe.

Con las batallas mencionadas anteriormente, junto con la agitación en sus vidas de COVID, su comunidad de fe en San Joaquín ha proporcionado la única conexión significativa y verdadera con Jesucristo y el testimonio de su Resurrección.

Peregrinaciones anteriores a Gettysburg, PA (2021), Israel - Tierra Santa (2022) han ayudado a muchos de estos jóvenes en nuestra parroquia para descubrir a Jesucristo de una manera real y tangible. Han sido iluminados para ver que Dios actúa en todos los acontecimientos de sus vidas, los sufrimientos y dificultades concretas y las experiencias de alegría.

Esta próxima peregrinación a la Jornada Mundial de la Juventud en Lisboa permitirá a cada uno de ellos seguir discerniendo y creciendo en su vocación cristiana y conocer al Santo Padre, el Papa Francisco, dándoles la oportunidad de encontrarse con Jesucristo "en el camino", como dice la Escritura, y de escuchar al Sucesor de Pedro, que, como Vicario de Cristo, señala el camino hacia una relación concreta con el Resucitado.

El coste de todo el viaje es de 3.500 dólares. Le escribimos para pedirles si pueden patrocinar el coste de la peregrinación de uno o más de estos jóvenes o hacer un donativo para ayudarles a asistir, en lo que será una experiencia vital para sus vidas. Todo lo que pueda aportar es una inversión en nuestro tesoro, los jóvenes que son el futuro de nuestra Iglesia. Le agradecemos cualquier ayuda que pueda prestarnos.
