Help our young men get to DC!!

Team Trublue was established to educate, reduce poverty, and decrease violence in the community so that children and families can have the opportunity to live a more conducive life, especially in our impoverished communities. Our program consists of 3 tiers of services that we provide with the ultimate goal of helping to keep our local communities safe. Those services are Mentoring, Violence & Bullying Prevention, and Community Outreach. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

In the spirit of building partnerships, we’re asking for your support of an upcoming event that we have for the youth who are members of our mentoring and community outreach program.

Team Trublue currently has a youth football team (ages 8-10) who are comprised of the community youth that we serve in our mentoring program. For this effort, we are using athletics as a vessel in teaching not only the sport of football but the necessary life skills that come along with it. Our staff works diligently to teach the children respect, discipline, teamwork, and good sportsmanship while promoting the importance of academics and physical fitness through hard work and a structured team environment. Many of the youth we service attend a Title I school and receive free or reduced lunch.

Our team worked hard this past season and earned the opportunity to compete in the Pop Warner Regional Championship…an accomplishment that many thought would be unattainable for us. Through hard work and perseverance, the team pushed themselves to reach the goal they’d been longing for. They put aside the adversity of their daily lives and worked hard as a unit to reach their common goal. To show our appreciation for their hard work, we will be taking the team on a trip to the African American History Museum in Washington, DC on May 5th – 7th as an educational and fun reward for the team.

We need your help to make this a success! The travel expenses are expected to be about $7,000 for a weekend round trip. The team has worked extremely hard, and it would be amazing if we could allow them to reap the rewards of their hard work. This will be an experience of a lifetime for the athletes, especially for those who have not had an opportunity to travel outside of their local area. A donation of any amount will help us reach our goal and get our athletes to DC! Our deadline for receiving donations is May 1st.

(We're also accepting donations via check or CashApp at $TeamTrublue (please note DC Trip in the comments).

Thank you so much for taking the time to hear about our story. We pray that you can help us reach our goal for these very deserving young men.
