Help Our Villages Fight COVID-19
Please help our communities in Senegal fight COVID-19!
As many of you know, I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in a remote region in southeastern Senegal. The village and communities I lived in are now at risk for the spread of COVID-19. My fellow PCVs and I have been in communication with a health worker named Cheikh from the area who is the president of a newly-formed COVID-19 response team that encompasses 6 villages. He and his team are leading the charge to educate and protect the populations against the spread of this virus. But much like here in the US, the health system was not prepared for this pandemic, and supplies are incredibly scarce.
Cheikh and his team are racing to teach community members about COVID-19 and distribute cloth masks and sanitizing gel. My fellow PCVs and I have committed to helping in the ways we can from the US, but they need financial support to keep going. To our friends and family: please consider chipping in whatever you can to help us raise money to protect the communities that took us in, cared for us, and called us their own.
