My family is going through an unimaginable crisis, and we are humbly asking for help.

This past week, my 62-year-old uncle was brutally attacked on a CTA Cicero bus by three teenagers in an unprovoked assault. He suffered severe head injuries and was in a medically induced coma as doctors worked to reduce swelling and give him the best chance to recover. Even though he is no longer in a coma, he does not remember the event and has a long road to recovery. Chicago Police have identified the individuals involved using CTA bus camera footage, but the harm done to our family has been devastating.

My uncle is the backbone and breadwinner of his household. He supports his twin brother, and even before this tragedy, he was already struggling to make ends meet. Now, with him unable to work and facing a long and uncertain recovery, we are overwhelmed with fear about how he and his brother will pay rent, utilities, food, and mounting medical-related expenses.

This attack didn’t just injure my uncle — it put his entire household at risk of losing stability and security. Every day is filled with worry, hospital visits, and prayers that he wakes up and heals. While we wait, we are doing everything we can to stay afloat, but we cannot do this alone.

Funds raised will go directly toward:

• Rent and utilities to keep his home

• Food and basic living expenses

• Medical-related costs and recovery needs

• Transportation and unforeseen expenses during his hospitalization
