We need your support in escaping persecution in the United States. Our family is extremely trans - I'm a trans woman and one of our daughters is trans; my partner is genderqueer. We're neurodivergent. We're disabled (I was born with a spinal tube defect). We're concerned about our safety here in the United States and we need to flee the country. We urgently need your support to help us leave our lives behind and rebuild in another place. I will have to leave my job to move, and our family needs financial support to find housing and get settled in our new home. As you are likely aware, Republicans have escalated their attacks on trans people, targeting our ability to access medical care, to work, to be out and about in public, and, ultimately, to travel freely and leave the country. Several legislators are openly calling for trans people to be jailed, while federal law enforcement is moving toward associating transness with terrorism. Trans folks, including myself, are experiencing increased violence and harassment, even in the Bay Area. My work, at a queer history nonprofit, is also being impacted.

Living in fear has had a huge impact on my mental and physical health. I've been scared to travel freely around the country for some time - in just this year, 122 anti-trans bills have passsed in 28 states - but the threat is coming home to California, with federal regulations coming for our medical care and Democrats increasingly capitulating on trans rights.

I hate leaving California and the Bay Area. I hate to leave my work - it has truly been a dream job for me. The kids and I have lived here our entire lives. We love it here. We don't want to leave. We hesitated as long as we could. But we've made the difficult decision to move to Mexico. Please help us as we begin to rebuild in Mexico. Thank you.
