AAU JUNIOR OLYMPIC GAMES - TRACK & FIELD/MULTIS- Greensboro, NC, JULY 26 - AUGUST 3, 2024
Hello Family/Friends/ Tracksters and Junior Olympic Athlete Fans, my name is Gordon McKee and I’m the Head Track Coach for the LA. Elite Track Club based in New Orleans, LA with our practice track at City Park.
I have had the opportunity to coach at the College and High School levels and run my own youth Summer Track Club Coach for more than 30 Years.
I competed as a World and National champion in the long jump for many years and a 2 x NJCAA ALL-AMERICAN in the High Jump and a 2 x NCAA ALL-AMERICAN in the long jump and ranked top 10 in the World and USA in 1990, 1991 and 1992. And a member of 5 USA National Track and Field Teams.
I have had a lifelong interest in maturing young athletes in their educational and athletic skills as they grow to adulthood. I have a unique opportunity this year to take 10 of our 16 athletes of our LAETC track club athletes who qualified to the AAU Junior Olympic Games for Track & Field in Greensboro, NC, July 26th through August 4th.
These young people range in age from 11–17 year-olds and have qualified to compete in the Pentathlon, 80m Hurdles, 100m hurdles, 400m, 800m, High Jump and Triple Jump.
These kids have worked so very hard to qualify for the upcoming 2024 AAU Jr. Olympic Games.
And recently 10 of our 16 LAETC athletes that participated at our AAU Region 11 Jr. Olympics Qualifier held June 11th-15th 2024, qualified for the 2024 AAU Jr. Olympic Games in Greensboro, NC, July 26-August 3, 2024.
Unfortunately, there is always an expense to any success as we move through life. Surprisingly, although so excited that my team members qualified for this once in a lifetime opportunity, their families are strapped with the reality of bearing the expense of this trip so suddenly with only a month in advance.
I’m requesting your support for donations in the amount of $10,000 to get our team to the Junior Olympic Championships. These donations will be solely used for travel, lodging, meals, and local transportation to and from the stadium.
I know this unique event will change these kids’ lives forever! We look forward to your support and we plan to bring home some medals.
