South Shore United Blazers are a small, 501(c) (3) non-profit soccer club based out of Brockton, MA. They have been around for many years with the teams primarily made up of local Brockton kids from families with limited resources. They are an outlier in the world of top Massachusetts club soccer which is dominated by large, cash-rich clubs who have first rate facilities, high profile coaches and can recruit the top players from all over the state. Not surprisingly the largest, richest clubs are historically the most successful and it is rare that a smaller club can compete with them. Enter the SSU Blazers U19 Boys team.
In a true Cinderella Story, these boys have upset the odds over and over again to become worthy state champions and represent Massachusetts at the 2023 USYSA Eastern Regional Championships in Virginia from June 23 – 29, 2023.
Unfortunately, the Blazers have very limited resources. The tremendous coaching staff led by Jose Veiga and Nolan Napier charge a fraction of the fees charged by other clubs and in numerous cases the financial situation of the players’ families means that Nolan and other club coaches and parents help subsidize the players so that the club can survive on a day to day basis. This is the spirit of the SSU Blazers. Everybody does what they can to support the development of these kids into great soccer players but most importantly, into fine young men.
In order to represent Massachusetts at the Regional Championships in Virginia , the club will need to raise a significant amount of funds to help cover the cost of travel, hotel accommodations, and meals. Coaches and parents will continue to do everything they possibly can but will need to rely on the generosity of many other people and organizations such as yourself. Your sponsorship will enable these boys to continue on their journey with the hope of reaching Nationals in July at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando Florida.
This truly is an amazing opportunity of a lifetime for many of these kids. Please help us make this dream come true for them by considering a donation towards our cause.
Thank you and we look forward to your support. Jose & Lori Veiga,
