My Academic Decathlon team is made up of 13 dedicated students—9 competing as a team and 4 as individuals. This year, we placed fourth in Arizona and are proud to be the top medium-sized school in the state. Our hard work has earned us the honor of being one of only five teams representing Arizona at the national competition, and we are thrilled to showcase our talents on a national stage.

Unfortunately, attending the national competition comes with significant expenses. We need to cover transportation, meals, registration, and lodging, but our school and district do not provide much funding for these costs. Each student is responsible for paying a portion, but several come from single-parent families and simply do not have the funds available for travel. I want to ensure that every student who has worked so hard has the opportunity to attend, regardless of their family’s financial situation.

The students have been preparing since August, dedicating countless hours to studying and teamwork. This trip is a huge reward for all their effort, and it would mean the world to them to participate.
