Help Our Sweet Millie Walk Again

Last night, our world turned upside down.

Our beloved dachshund, Millie, got overwhelmed with joy when she saw my mom walk through the door. She jumped up with excitement, like she always does, but this time, she let out the most heartbreaking cry of pain we’ve ever heard. Within minutes, she lost all movement in her back legs.

After rushing her to the emergency vet, we were told Millie had likely suffered a serious spinal injury. She was diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease)… a condition tragically common in dachshunds. Initially, she still had deep pain and some reflexes in her legs. But in just a few short hours, the swelling progressed rapidly, and now she no longer feels deep pain. We were transferred to a second emergency vet in Gainesville to be seen by the on-call neurologist. Everything has happened so fast, and we’re heartbroken.

Millie is only 3 years old. She is full of life, love, and that special spark that makes her a part of our soul. Between my mom growing up and us know, we have always had dachshunds. Millie is not just a pet; she is our baby, our comfort, our joy.

Now she needs spinal surgery as soon as possible to have a chance at walking again.

This surgery is extremely costly, and as much as we hate to ask, we need your help. Every dollar will go directly toward Millie’s emergency surgery, treatment, and recovery. We know times are hard for everyone, but if you’re able to contribute or share this post, it would mean the world to us.
