Our sweet dog Oreo recently went through a major oral surgery to remove a mass under her tongue. What was supposed to be a straightforward recovery turned into a heartbreaking and expensive medical crisis.

After surgery, Oreo developed severe hematomas and bleeding under her tongue, which keep bursting and forcing emergency visits. The swelling and bleeding have been so serious that she now has to stay sedated for up to 14 days to prevent her from opening her mouth and re-injuring herself.

To make things worse, Oreo came out of surgery anemic (28%), and after being put on IV fluids, her blood count dropped further to 16%. The vets warned she may need a blood transfusion overnight, which could add another $2,000to the already mounting bills.

She’s currently on a feeding tube through her neck because she can’t eat or drink normally, and she’s been through multiple emergency visits due to recurring bleeding. The costs have quickly become overwhelming — surgery, emergency care, IV fluids, sedation medications, and 24-hour monitoring have added up far beyond what we expected.

Despite all this, Oreo keeps fighting. She’s the most gentle, loving soul — always wagging her tail even through pain. We just want to give her the chance to heal and get back to her happy, healthy self.
