Help Our Sweet Arlo

Donation protected

My name is Dana and I am fundraising for my sister and sister-in-law who, in an attempt to save their dog’s life, are faced with an enormous amount of debt.

On August 14th their sweet Arlo was attacked and rushed to an emergency vet. Arlo suffered a bite to the skull and despite being stitched and put on antibiotics, the wound was infected and only getting worse. That Tuesday my sister received the news that he was in critical condition and that the infection was spreading. The bite from the attack created a domino effect of problems for Arlo.

If you are an animal lover, I’m sure you understand how emotionally stressful this has been for my sister and her family. Arlo is more than a pet, he is a vital part of her life and family. She and her wife have been driving to the hospital, 40minutes away, every single day to check in on Arlo. He gave this the fight of his life and surprised the doctors when he pulled through!

Unfortunately it came at a great cost. Arlo has endured many surgeries and lost a lot of skin due to infection, including an eye. It seems he may be coming home soon but he still has a long road ahead before he makes a full recovery.

This has been the longest two and a half weeks of Lauren’s and Kathleen’s life. The amount of stress they were put under was enormous and grief was almost unbearable. I want to do whatever I can to help them. Their bills for Arlo are currently $31,469 and I’m hoping to raise as much as possible to help. I know they’d feel too guilty asking others to help pay for Arlo but I also know the cost is too much for them to carry on their own.

So with that I must ask the most uncomfortable question, would you be able to donate whatever you can to help?

UPDATE!!: First I’d like to thank everyone for their generosity! I am so thrilled to see how much had been raised to help Lauren and Kathleen. Arlo is officially home! He was released last night and is happy to be home . He will still need to have minor surgeries every week to replace the bandages sewn into his head while new tissue starts to grow. But this is good news because it means he won’t need skin grafts. Our little Arlo is brave and mighty!!
