Hello! We are UC Berkeley's Delta Kappa Alpha, a nonprofit national film organization that supports cinematic artists and creatives through student film productions, cinema literacy, professional development, and community-building.
We are in significant financial need. As many of our members have been unable to pay fees due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are in foreseeable danger of being evicted from our meeting house. Many of our members are not returning for the fall, leaving us with even fewer people responsible for the house's financial burden and compounding debt. Any contributions would be put toward making membership affordable for those facing financial struggle and saving our house, which has been the beating heart of our chapter since 2016.
At a school that tends to be heavily STEM-focused, we work to provide a creative space for college students who want to pursue their dreams of filmmaking and creative arts. Supporting our organization, with about 50 active members who strive to make a positive impact on the Berkeley community and beyond, means saving a space that is often a campus hotspot for professional industry education and friendship for community members looking for a family (and providing housing stability for those of us living in the house who have no alternative places to go).
We would like to personally thank you for your support and would love to connect with you! Feel free to check out our instagram @dkaberkeley to see our club activities and get to know us a bit more. If you prefer to donate directly, you can Venmo us at @caldka.
Yours in Kappa,
Eta Chapter
