We never imagined we would be in a position to ask for help like this.
Our sweet little boy was born with complex medical challenges, including having only one functioning lung. Over his short life, he has already endured three surgeries—each one a reminder of how fragile and brave he is. Recently, doctors discovered that his airway is critically narrow—just a few millimeters wide over a long segment—making every illness, every procedure, and every breath far more dangerous than it should be for a child his age.
He is currently in the pediatric intensive care unit while doctors determine the safest next steps. We are now facing the reality that he may need a highly specialized airway reconstruction at a major pediatric center far from home. This is not a routine operation. It is a complex surgery that may require placing him on heart–lung bypass, something that no parent is ever prepared to hear about their child.
Until now, we have quietly carried the weight of his medical journey on our own—showing up to every appointment, navigating hospital stays, and holding onto hope without asking for help. But this next chapter is simply bigger than us.
Between intensive care, medical transport, emergency travel, housing near the hospital, meals away from home, and uncovered medical expenses, the financial strain is quickly becoming overwhelming.
As parents, our only focus is keeping our son safe and giving him the best chance at a healthy future. Asking for support is incredibly difficult for us, but we’ve reached a point where we can no longer do this alone.
