A beloved member of our community, a school social worker, will soon be undergoing multiple surgeries, each requiring time to heal. She is an exemplar of community care. She organizes fundraisers and raises awareness for various issues within the community. She partners with local community-based organizations to donate toys from the annual toy drive at the school, instilling the joy and power of community care within students who help to wrap presents every year. She lights up every room with her humor and her honest appraisal. She is creative, loving, knowledgeable, and she is always there to support others. Now it is time for us to show up for her.
She will soon need to have surgery for a bone marrow transplant and a round of chemotherapy after her doctor discovered a marker in her bone marrow for leukemia during routine blood work. They believe that the surgery and chemotherapy will cause irreparable damage to her kidneys, resulting in the need for a kidney transplant. She will have a long road of recovery after, and we are looking to raise funds for her so that we can all walk with her on this journey. Money raised will help to cover costs for surgeries and hospital stays.
