Help Well Kept Rabbit Recover from Hurricane Helene

Donation protected
After the catastrophic Hurricane Helene hit our hometown on September 25th, we are profoundly grateful to be safe and healthy. We evacuated with our family of four bunnies and two cats, and we’ve had time to reflect on just how lucky we are to be alive and safe. Our hometown, however, has been left in devastation, with many areas completely destroyed. As many have said, there is now life before Hurricane Helene, and life after.

While we were incredibly fortunate that our workshop survived the storm, the loss of power and water has significantly impacted our ability to operate. As a small family-run business, we don’t have the financial safety net that larger companies do in times of crisis which is why we are reaching out to our community.

In the aftermath of the hurricane, we’ve faced destroyed raw materials, lost revenue, and unexpected hurricane-related expenses. After careful consideration, we estimate that it will take $20,000 to cover essential costs—including vital purchases, wage support for ourselves and our employees, and the resources needed to get back on our feet.

Though we have encouraged our team to seek all available resources such as FEMA assistance, these programs have been inconsistent and cover only a fraction of what’s needed. Your support can help ensure that our employees continue to receive wages during this period and that our business survives this crisis.

If we are fortunate enough to exceed our goal, any extra funds not used to sustain the business will be donated to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, whose shelter was completely destroyed by the hurricane. They had to evacuate all their animals and are now facing their own monumental recovery efforts. BWAR is a local shelter we have had a long-standing relationship with in their involvement in the local rabbit community.

Our business has been our passion since 2018, and we’ve always strived to serve our community. The truth is, even if a business is physically intact, the lasting effects of a disaster like this can be crippling. We hope to continue serving our beloved community for many years to come, but right now, we need your help to make it through this difficult time.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any contribution you can make.
