Help our sister fight breast cancer

Donation protected
Never in a hundred lifetimes did we think we’d be writing a GoFundMe page to ask for your help paying for our younger sister’s medical bills from her cancer treatments. But here we are. Because at the age of 27, our sister Gabi was diagnosed with breast cancer. Our sister, who is getting married in October; who is so focused on her physical, mental, and emotional health; who is putting herself through grad school.

Shortly before Thanksgiving in 2021, Gabi found a lump in her breast—one that was nonexistent at her annual in August. Three different doctors told her they were 98% sure it was nothing—a “benign fibroid.” They offered a biopsy as a precautionary measure. Thanks to Gabi’s self-described “crippling anxiety,” she advocated for the biopsy. We are grateful she did. Gabi was diagnosed with a grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma.

This diagnosis was the beginning of a rollercoaster ride no one wanted to take. Due to COVID, Gabi’s treatments were delayed, allowing her tumor to grow to the size of a golf ball. Once chemo finally started, the side effects set in quickly. She lost her hair and her physical ability to work, but Gabi never lost her determination.

It’s no secret that a team of people have helped Gabi get this far in her battle of this awful disease. From the incredible team of doctors at Dana Farber to her resilient fiance, Rob, to our family, to the hundreds of friends and loved ones who have come forward to cheer her on and offer their support.

Many of you celebrated with us last month when Gabi finished her final chemo treatment. But we’re only halfway through the fight. Her surgery is scheduled for next week. Radiation will begin after that.

Gabi shouldn’t be worried about her ability to pay for the treatment she needs to fight breast cancer. She should be focused on wedding planning and finishing her masters in education. She should be focused on treatment and recovery. Help ease the added financial burden of battling her cancer diagnosis.

We ask for your support now. Please consider making a donation, which will help Gabi pay for these exorbitant medical bills. No donation is too small.
