Our sister Angel, 29 years old, mother of two young children.
For the past 7 years, Angel has been battling a severe bowel disease, which has turned her life into her anyone’s worst nightmare. With there being so much. uncertainty, we are not sure what the future holds, but what we do know is that Angel cannot live a normal life, and we are hoping to give her some ease. We may face the risk again and we pray for her to have the best possible care.
After 4 surgeries and unexplainable pain, having suffered a TWISTED BOWEL TWICE, which she describes as a million times worse than childbirth. Angel has a Ileostomy bag for the rest of her life, she has NO LARGE BOWEL, no rectum, no anus, no appendix, part of her small bowel has been removed, and other parts of her body changed.
We want to give Angel LIFE, time to laugh and cry with moments of JOY, to watch her children grow…
An option of private care, a private room where we can stay with her and hold her hand, if and when we face another hard moment. To be able to provide her with equipment and support to help her to raise her beautiful children, a LIFE THAT THEY DESERVE, not luxury, just what she needs so that she can have the best care, time for her to heal and spend with her loved ones.
WE ARE ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE, TO TAKE SOME PRESSURE AWAY, SO OUR BEAUTIFUL ANGEL, CAN HAVE SOME EASE IN KNOWING THAT SHE HAS A CHANCE TO LIVE IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY WITH HER YOUNG CHILDREN.
The future is uncertain and I cannot begin to explain what a beautiful soul Angel really is, SHE NEVER COMPLAINS, she gets on, despite everything. All she really wants is to see her children grow, to be a mother and to live a very basic, normal life.
We would really appreciate any donations and for you to read a brief insight into Angel’s story, below….
It started in March 2020, when after just two weeks of giving birth to her youngest child, she was rushed to hospital, having unbearable pain & symptoms which lead to her diagnoses of Ulcerative colitis, in the lower regions.
Angel was sent home with steroids and a biopsy was taken.
Within weeks, symptoms worsened she took herself to A&E. After eventually being seen and heard, she was told she may need a colostomy/ileostomy bag fitted (the ileostomy was later confirmed and fitted). She was rushed down to surgery, her disease had spread (soon after having the biopsy) to the whole 1.8 metres of her large bowel, which had gone Gangrene and all had to be removed. As well as this, the disease had spread to her appendix, causing acute appendicitis & she also had pancreatitis. During surgery, they had to bring out part of the small bowel to form a stoma from the ileostomy (end part the small bowel). Again, this came after a biopsy was taken. She has a complete abdominal bowel obstruction, which meant a total “Pan-proctocolectomy, this “lifesaving but also life-threatening surgery”. (To be completed in two stages, the second planned a year later after the first surgery/recovery.
She couldn’t be with and care of her son she’d just given birth to and her young daughter.
During this year, part of Angel’s stomach wound had opened, and she had still been suffering with painful and unpleasant symptoms, due to part of her operation having not been completed until the following year. She describes this as a year from hell, waiting for her next surgery to take place.
In 2021, exactly 1 year later, the second part of her Pan-proctocolectomy surgery took place, which meant she had to have her diseased rectum & anus removed and stitched up.
She went on to recover and was able to start living her life again, bringing her children up but still living with pain and unpleasant symptoms for 5 years, with ongoing tests and appointments.
After this time Angel developed a large abscess in the lower region, the area was drained and she was told that the area needed to heal naturally without being closed back up. Each day during recovery, she had nurses come to see her from home, to pack her open wounds for approximately 1 year.
In 2021, during her recovery process she was rushed to hospital for a TWISTED SMALL BOWEL. This was caused by her previous surgery; too much space had been left in between and not enough tissue had been packed around the area, causing this second twisted bowel.
This was during Covid times. Her body was dying yet no body heard her cries, she was in hospital all alone with no one aloud to advocate for her, nobody to hold her hand, put on pain relief which made her hallucinate. She told the doctors, that wished to no longer live due to the pain caused by the TWISTED BOWEL. IT IS SAID TO BE ONE OF THE WORST AND PAINFUL WAYS TO DIE. She was left in the waiting room all night and all day, whilst a cleaner moped the floor around her, where she lay. Our darling sister, laying in her own vomit whilst the nurses told her to “Get up off the floor”. Screams of utter agony, this young beautiful woman, just wanting to hold her babies and be home with them.
Testing was done; the CT scan only showed one twist but not the other 7 looped twists (later found during surgery).
She was eventually taken down for emergency surgery, where she had to have half a metre of small bowel removed, which had gone gangrene and twisted off.
After this surgery took place, Angel was told that she only had a little amount of small bowel left which could be removed, so if her small bowel became twisted again, diseased, or she developed Crohn’s disease and part removal became necessary, that she could not live unless she was given a transplant.
Between 2021 until March 2026, Angel had numerous appointments and more recently had tests for Crohn’s disease, an MRI scan, diagnoses for Gastritis (inflamed stomach lining, linked to her condition), confirmed with an endoscopy. She has spent a lot of time going for appointments with medical teams.
She has been suffering with many side effects of her condition, including Paronychia (finger infections), uveitis, painful mouth ulcers, severe dehydration and nausea, living with phantom rectum and constant abdominal pain.
Since December 2025, as Angel’s symptoms and abdominal pains have worsened, she has been back and forth on phone calls and appointments with surgeons and doctors. Her emergency Endoscopy was advised to come through in 3 days, and Angel was never given one, after chasing the process.
During the end of February, Angel developed bowel blockage and on 28th of February 2026, our worst nightmare happened, when Angel’s small bowel became twisted again, after a traumatic event, Angel & her family begging for scans, pleading to be heard, she waited hours upon hours, night and day before being opened up. In my life, I have never seen someone in so much agony.
To make matters worse, her bloods, x2 CT scans and other testing was not indicating a “Twisted bowel”. She knew the pain from the last time, she was treated as if she was exaggerating, it was a traumatic experience , which can never be forgotten.
BUT ANGEL WAS RIGHT, SHES KNOWS HER BODY, WHEN NO DOCTOR, NO NURSE, NOR SURGEON LISTENED TO HER FOR ABOUT 41 HOURS, HER BOWEL WAS IN FACT TWISTED AGIAIN!
Thankfully, with what we believe to be a miracle, Angel pulled through once again, but the reality is heartbreaking. Her surgeon has said that this is likely something that could happen again in the future.
That’s why we are preparing as a family for what lies ahead.
Our brother Hugh, is running the Southend Half Marathon this June to raise money for our sister and help support the costs that come with ongoing treatment, hospital stays, recovery, and future medical care.
Living with a chronic illness brings not only physical and emotional challenges but also financial ones. We want to make sure that when the next emergency happens, our focus can be entirely on supporting her and not worrying about how we will manage the costs.
Any donation, no matter how small, will help us support our sister through the difficult road ahead. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read Angel’s story and for helping us stand beside our sister as she continues this fight.
With love and gratitude,
Angel’s family x
