Help Our Riders Soar: Support Thornton Rose Riding for the Disabled!
Hello, and thank you for visiting our page!
My name is Ella McLeod, and I am a passionate volunteer at Thornton Rose Riding for the Disabled (RDA) in Midlothian. For years, I've had the privilege of witnessing the incredible, life-changing magic that happens when our participants meet our wonderful horses.
We are a small, community-driven group entirely reliant on donations and the dedication of our volunteers. Today, we're reaching out to our wider community to help us raise £500 as a trustee. I have been personally challenged to ensure our vital sessions can continue to run smoothly and safely.
The Magic of RDA
For our participants, many of whom face physical, cognitive, and sensory challenges, Thornton Rose RDA is so much more than just a horse ride. It's a place of therapy, friendship, and pure joy.
Therapy: Horse riding offers incredible physical benefits, improving core strength, balance, and coordination.
Confidence: Sitting tall in the saddle gives our riders a newfound sense of independence and self-esteem.
Connection: The unique bond between a rider and their horse fosters communication, empathy, and emotional well-being. We see anxious faces light up with smiles and hear laughter echo around our arena every single week.
Where Your Donation Will Go
Your generous support will go directly towards the essential costs of running our sessions. My £500 goal will specifically cover:
Specialist Equipment: This includes adaptive reins, safety stirrups, and supportive saddle pads, all crucial for our riders' safety and comfort.
Horse Care: Such as our Farrier, vet check-ups, and dental care.
Livery and Feed Costs: Stables and bedding to keep our horses warm, and feeds to keep them fit and healthy.
Be a Part of Their Journey
Every single donation, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference. You are not just helping to pay for hay or helmets; you are funding:
...the moment a non-verbal child says "walk on" for the first time.
...the newfound strength that helps a participant sit taller, both on and off the horse.
...the beaming smile of a participant who has just achieved a personal goal.
How You Can Help
Donate Now: Please consider donating. Every pound gets us closer to our goal.
Share This Campaign: Even if you can't donate right now, you can help enormously by sharing this page with your friends, family, and on social media. Please help us spread the word!
From the bottom of our hearts, and on behalf of all our participants, volunteers, and horses at Thornton Rose RDA, thank you for your kindness and support. Together, we can keep the magic alive.
With immense gratitude,
Ella McLeod
