Hi, my name is Debbie Davies and I help my dear friend, Rosie Turner, to run Desperate Dogs of Azerbaijan.
Rosie founded the rescue five years ago after she moved to Azerbaijan for work and quickly became concerned about the cruelty and abuse shown towards animals in this country.
Dogs and cats are culled from the streets on a daily basis by methods which are far from humane and Rosie could not ignore the suffering of these poor, innocent souls.
Rosie currently cares for over 360 dogs and 37 cats, the majority of whom are based at our main shelter on the outskirts of Baku.
Unfortunately, our rescue is facing a very difficult time as along with mounting debt we have now been told that we are going to be evicted from our shelter to make way for a school to be built on the land.
This means that we urgently need to raise a minimum of £7,000 to ensure our precious animals are kept safe otherwise we will have no choice but to return them to the streets where they will face certain death.
Rosie has already found alternative land to rent for a new shelter which will give us more space and security for the animals.
However, the move will be expensive as we need to safely transport 193 animals, construct separate gated sections for the dogs to prevent fights, extend the wall to prevent the dogs escaping, construct a cat house, create a quarantine zone to prevent the spread of disease, dissemble and move the existing roof, dog houses and cat pens plus other belongings and connect electricity.
This is a huge challenge for our rescue but the animals are our priority and we cannot let them down.
Please, please share our fundraiser as much as possible because we can only do this with your help.
Thank you so much for your support
