Update Wednesday, October 27th, 2021:

First, thank you to each and every one of you that has donated and/or shared this fundraiser.  Every penny that has been donated gets us closer to being able to cover her ICU bill.  We are eternally grateful for everything you have done to assist us.  Our "thank you" will never be enough gratitude.

Teacup seems to be doing well today.  She ALMOST slept through the night, but we do have to give her medicine to her in the middle of the night.  (Unfortunately her human sister got the throw ups last night, so we were up  from 1am on for her)

Teacup is really not liking taking the medicine any more.  One of the meds does not taste good and she fights us pretty hard.  We have to be so very careful administering them so as not to cause her to aspirate and cause more issues for her healing lungs.  One med is .4mg, one 2mg and one is 1mg.  Sad thing for her is that we must continue the meds for another 10 days, at the very least.  We have been tracking her respiratory rate to make sure she is within normal ranges and she is at 39 bpm as of this afternoon.  That is good!  Not perfect, but such an improvement from where she was at the ER with a bpm over 100!  I cannot understate how volatile she was hour-to-hour for 7 of the 8 days she was in the ICU.

Friday morning is her follow-up exam with Dr. Corrina at Yorkshire Veterinary, so we are still nervous in anticipation that the doctor confirms she is doing as well as we think she is.  Caring for a little one like this is much like caring for an infant and we keep checking each other to make sure we aren't convincing each other that everything is ok.  We have been questioning every little breath that seems out of place or any squeak that doesn't seem right.

Unless something exciting happens tomorrow, I will be sure to update you all on Friday morning after the doctor visit!  Thank you all again for everything you have done for us.

UPDATE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2021:
Teacup the Rescue Micropup is doing pretty well!  We have a follow up appointment with our doctor at Yorkshire Veterinary Care on Friday, so we are very anxious to get her in and get eyes on her.  We are aware she does have a hypoplastic trachea  (thin airway, common in small chihuahua's), so it will be good to talk this through with Dr. Corrina Hamann.

We are quite sleeeeeeeepy.  :)  Teacup is doing fairly well at night time, but got used to being in a 24/7 facility and she has confused days/nights, just like an infant.    We are continuing her 3 antibiotic medicines at 2pm and 2am, along with a probiotic to help her little gut.  Teacup is starting to put a little bit of weight on and is eating really well.  She really loves the puppy food we are providing, and LOVES to have warmed up cow Kefir with it.  From our observations, her breathing is quite normal, we are only hearing normal puppy squeaks because she is so small.

Can we just say we have been reduced to tears over the support from our friends in the community over the last few days?!?  This little rescue has won the hearts of so many.  The love we feel from you all makes the pain of last week seem so far away.    Thank you is not enough.  Feeling gratitude is not enough.  We are just humbled.

UPDATE MONDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2021:
Teacup is finally home.  She is doing better, but is on 3 different antibiotics for at least 14 more days.  She will also need a lot of follow up care.  We received our final bill, the total remaining is $4,700.  We have raised over $2,000 thus far, we really just want to raise at least $1,000 more to make her 8 day ICU bill a little bit more manageable for us as a family.  If you are able, please donate--or share our fundraiser--to help us get to our goal.  Thank you for your support!!

On Saturday, October 16th, our family brought home our little chihuahua we named Teacup. She was a rescue from MAMCO Rescue in Denver.  She was 13 ounces of absolute love. Within a few hours, it was evening and she looked a bit more like she was having hiccups. She settled in a bit for the night, but I was a bit worried. by the morning, not even 12 hours later, she was distressed in her breathing. I spoke with our vet and with Animal ER Clinic and decided she needed to go right in.

Teacup was diagnosed with pneumonia and was admitted. We have been going hour to hour ever since then. Her oxygen has been reduced over the last several days, but she is still dependent on oxygen. Her x-rays show slight improvement, but not as much as what the Doctors would like to see with a typical case. There are a thousand things which could be wrong, but we have gone day to day.

As we picked up this little bundle of joy on the weekend, I was unable to get her to our regular vet to have her assessed and start her pet insurance. We received some assistance from the rescue, but that funding could only go so far.

We have never asked anyone to ever help us with a personal need until this situation. Care for this little gal is about $1,200 per day. She will need to see an internal medicine specialist in the next 24 hours, and our estimate is approximately $2,000 before they will take her case. She may just be a slow healer from the pneumonia, she may have a pulmonary issue undetected to this point, she may have come with Distemper, but at this point, we just don't know. We will receive a little more information from a swab test that was completed on Tuesday, but like everything else in our world right now, the results are delayed until possibly Monday.

I cannot give up on this puppy. She is surviving and she is fighting. She is not in a state where it would be humane to put her to sleep. We need another set of eyes on her, and mostly we just need a little more time. Here is my ask: Please if you can, donate to help us get her care and give her a fighting chance.  We have already incurred a big chunk of expenses, but we will need the $2,000 within the next 24 hours to get her in the Internal Medicine Doctors hands.  If you know us at all, WE LOVE OUR DOGS! This baby needs a chance. Please help us.  You have our word, any penny above what is needed to get this pup to normal will be donated to MAMCO Rescue in Denver.
