Help Our Quartet Journey to the Netherlands!
Hello, we are the Prometheus Quartet! We are a Juilliard based string quartet that formed in the fall of 2023 inspired by the myth of Prometheus. Just as Prometheus stole fire from the gods to give to humanity, we strive to share new and meaningful forms of connection with our audiences through our performances of the beloved string quartet canon and little-known gems.
Our quartet has been given an amazing opportunity to attend a world renowned masterclass course taking place in the Netherlands this spring, the Schiermonnikoog Festival (linked below). With generous funding from amazing folks like you, we would be able to cover the airfare and tuition that is currently out of reach given our limited financial resources as graduate students in New York.
At Schiermonnikoog, we would be able to study under violinist Marc Danel, founder of the Danel Quartet. Besides the wealth of knowledge he possesses as part of one of Europe's eminent quartets, he is uniquely equipped to help us with our study of 20th-century music such as Shostakovich and Weinberg, as his quartet is one of the few quartets to have worked with the Borodin Quartet and recorded all the Weinberg quartets.
In the near future, we have upcoming fellowship residency auditions at schools such as the New England Conservatory of Music and the Curtis Institute. In the long term we hope to make a career of sharing our music with others. Attending Schiermonnikoog would be a tremendous step in that direction. It goes without saying, but any help at all would be tremendous as it would assist us in trying to make this dream opportunity come true!
