Help Save Our Puppy — Fighting Paralysis and a Dangerous Fever
Hi friends,
We’re reaching out with heavy hearts. A few weeks ago, we rescued a sweet 6-month-old puppy who had been found wandering the streets of Okeechobee, Florida. She was scared, thin, and clearly had been through more than a young dog should ever have to endure.
We took her in, gave her love, food, safety, and started her medical care. But in the weeks that followed, her health began to decline in a terrifying way.
At first, she was just a little sick — tired, warm to the touch, with minor nasal discharge. But then things escalated. She developed a dangerously high fever (104°F) and could no longer stand or use her hind legs. She became extremely lethargic and weak, and we rushed her to an emergency vet.
She has now been on two strong medications — Clindamycin and Doxycycline — for 10 days, treating potential tick-borne illness or a parasitic infection. But instead of getting better, she’s getting worse. Her bloodwork is normal, which makes the diagnosis harder, but her symptoms are very real and very scary.
We’re now facing possible neurological or immune-mediated conditions that may require:
• Advanced testing (spinal tap, MRI)
• A veterinary neurologist
• Long-term steroid treatment
• More emergency visits, hospitalization, or specialized imaging
We are doing everything in our power, but we can’t do it alone. Her medical expenses are mounting rapidly, and we’re running out of resources just as her condition becomes more urgent.
