We need help. Our plant shop lost power for 7 days causing us to lose our entire inventory valued at over 100k. We contacted insurance and were told that we had coverage for lost inventory as well as loss of income. For the past week, we’ve been operating with that confirmation of coverage, purging Plants and donating what was potentially salvageable to teachers and classrooms around the city.
Today insurance called stating that they’re defining our plants as “spoilage” instead of damaged and that we don’t have coverage for it. Then they said we don’t have “utility interruption” on our loss of income so despite telling us for a week they would pay, they’re now giving us NOTHING.
We are a very small business but we love helping and serving our community, we have never asked for help and are so broken hearted to be doing this at all.
Anything you contribute will help us get through this very difficult season. We are still going to fight for coverage but we are desperate to get back to work and help our community. We’ve set the goal as the amount insurance owes us.
In the past three weeks we’ve lost a beloved pet, my husband had an unexpected major surgery and now we’ve lost everything we’ve built in this business over 9 years.
Thank you for reading, for sharing and for loving us. We are deeply grateful for the community around us and feel your warmth during this heartbreaking season.
