Help our Phelps Luck 5th Graders go to DC!
Donation protected
My name is Rachel Skinner, and I am a fifth-grade teacher at Phelps Luck Elementary, a Title I school in Columbia, MD. This is the first "normal" school year since second grade for our fifth graders, and we are trying to give them all the experiences they missed out on the past two years.
One of those experiences is going on a field trip. In our social studies curriculum, we learn about the foundations of government. Our students wrote a narrative about an imaginary trip to Washington, DC in our writing curriculum. We want to take that fictional story, and everything they learned about the three branches of government, and turn it into reality. For this field trip, we will take a three branches of government driving tour; visit the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Vietnam Memorial; and visit the Natural History Museum and the American History Museum.
This field trip is an incredible experience, and we want to make sure every one of our students can go, regardless of their ability to pay. If we reach our full fundraising goal, we can make this field trip completely free for our students instead of costing $40. Even if we don't reach our goal, each dollar raised will go towards reducing the cost for our families.
Thank you for helping making our field trip dreams a reality!
