Help Our Parents Recover and Rebuild from a Devastating Scam

Hi, we’re Bob and Eileen Filoramo’s children, and we’re reaching out as a family to ask for help for two of the most incredible people we’ve ever known—our parents.

Recently, they fell victim to a devastating and highly sophisticated scam—something that honestly feels like it came straight out of a movie, but tragically, this wasn’t fiction. It really happened.

Our dad, Bob, is a lifelong school teacher—someone who has spent decades shaping young minds, working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of his students. We joyfully just celebrated his 85th birthday in June. Our mom, Eileen, has always been his biggest supporter and the steady heart of our family. They’ve never been wealthy, but they’ve always been rich in love, generosity, and integrity. They’ve worked hard, saved carefully, and lived simply, with the hope of retiring peacefully and enjoying the years they’ve earned.

They were targeted by scammers who used psychological manipulation, fear, and precision to steal a huge portion of their life savings—money they spent a lifetime building. The loss has been absolutely devastating. It’s more than financial—it’s emotional, it’s spiritual, and it’s shaken their and our sense of safety in the world.

They are heartbroken and even embarrassed, but they shouldn't be. These scams are designed to be convincing, and sadly, no one is immune. If it could happen to them, it could happen to anyone. No one deserves this, least of all two kindhearted people who gave so much to others. At a stage in life when they should be enjoying peace and security, they are instead facing uncertainty.

We are doing everything we can to support them, but the truth is—we can’t undo the damage alone. That’s why we’re reaching out in humility to the kindness of our community, friends, and extended network for your help.
