On Friday, January 23rd, our mom and step-dad’s lives changed forever when a devastating house fire tore through their dream retirement home in Arkansas. Praise God, Robert, Carol and all 5 dogs escaped without harm. However, in just a matter of hours, they lost everything they had worked so hard for—their home, their belongings, and the cherished keepsakes and family treasures passed down through generations. The loss is overwhelming, but our family is committed to moving forward with hope, faith, and determination.

Our mom is a world champion artist who poured her heart and soul into her work. The fire destroyed not only her awards, ribbons, and completed artwork, but also all of the supplies she needs to create again. Her art has always been an expression of her faith, passion, and love, and losing it has been especially heartbreaking. Our step-dad lost irreplaceable photographs and memories with his sons, along with treasured items representing his years of service as a retired firefighter. He is a hardworking, humble man who would do anything for his children—myself, my sister, and our two stepbrothers. Despite this loss, he remains strong and determined to rebuild a future for both of them.

We are a Christian family and rely heavily on our faith to carry us through this incredibly difficult time. Proverbs 3:5 has brought us great comfort: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” We are leaning into that promise as we take the next steps forward. While financial donations are deeply appreciated, we understand that not everyone is able to give monetarily. If you would like to help by donating household items, please reach out to a family member in Minnesota so we can coordinate and collect items.

Some of the items that would help the most as they begin rebuilding include: basic household items (kitchenware, dishes, cookware, small appliances), clothing and shoes, bedding, towels, and linens, toiletries and personal care items, cleaning supplies, and other essentials. If you are considering donating physical items, we are kindly requesting 'clean' essentials—such as stainless steel, cast iron, or glass cookware (Teflon-free), PFOA/PTFE-free kitchenware and natural fiber linens. Our goal is to create a sanctuary for them that is as non-toxic and healing as possible.

Art supply donations are especially meaningful as our mom begins to rebuild her creative space. If you’d like to help in this way, artist quality art supplies, a quality sewing machine, and gift cards to Hobby Lobby, Dick Blick, or Amazon would be especially appreciated.
