Help our Oak Grove Disc Golf family rebuild from the LA fire

On behalf of the Oak Grove Disc Golf Club in Pasadena, California, we are asking for the greater disc golf community to show its love and support for our members who lost everything in the recent Los Angeles wildfires.

At this point in time, we are aware of 9 families/14 local players who lost everything. Sadly, we expect that number to grow once the dust settles and we get back on the course this weekend.

We all know that disc golf is a unique sport where players and communities worldwide love, support, and welcome each other with open arms. It might be someone returning your disc, inviting you to play, sharing advice, showing you the perfect line, or putting you up for a weekend tournament as an out of towner. The love is real.

We are asking that you show your love and support by sharing our fundraiser in your community and by making a contribution to help us reach our goal. Whatever we raise will be split equally to each impacted family through the Oak Grove Disc Golf Club, a registered 501(c)(3) charity, by its Board of Directors.

Those Oak Grove players who lost it all include recreational level players, competitive amateur players, and seasoned professional players. They are brand new players and founding veterans of the sport with 2-digit PDGA numbers. They are men, women, and children from our course. They are individuals and families who all call Oak Grove their home course. They include players new to the course who came to this community to make a home and a life for themselves only to see it disappear all too soon. They are players who have lived here for decades, raised their families, served their community and played Oak Grove when it all began in 1975. Some were the pioneers of Frisbee Golf and who were instrumental in it becoming the world’s first course 50 years ago.

More than anything, this whole group is not unlike the players at your course who love everything about the sport and would do anything in their power to support disc golfers in need. We hope that you will find a way to support them in their time of need.
