Help our NHS Staff to keep going
Donation protected
A couple of weeks ago an old school friend who's now an ICU anaesthetist sent me a message asking if I knew where she could buy a face visor from as she couldn't find any for sale and they'd got a shortage of PPE in their hospital. My work kindly donated some PPE but this wasn't enough.
I started looking into 3D printing and asked some friends around the UK to start printing a design that I found but I wanted to do my bit too, so I did some research and ordered a printer and a few reels of filament at the end of March. Since then over 80 masks have been printed not only going to my friends hospital that started this but also two local GP practices.
Each mask requires a piece of elastic and an A4 clear plastic binding cover.
In total each mask only costs 85p in materials to make.
In addition to these I'm also making ear savers for front line workers that have to wear face masks all day long. They're starting to get sore ears and pressure sores from the elastic, these small plastic strips allow them to hold the elastic off the ears and attach it to the backs of their heads instead, these have gone down really well with the local hospital! They only cost 4.5p in material and are quick to print!
So far I've spent quite a bit on this, which I don't have a problem with but I don't have an infinite budget so if people would like to make a small donation it would be much appreciated to help pay for the raw materials please.
Even just a donation of £5 will give 5 visors and 16 ear savers to the front line!
When the demand for these dries up the remaining balance in this fund will be donated to the Cavell Nurses Trust who've set up some special grants to support nurses during these difficult times. https://www.cavellnursestrust.org
