Help our Neighbors at 231 Grand Street!

Donation protected
Welcome to Chinatown is hosting a fundraiser in partnership with District 1 City Councilmember Christopher Marte's office.

231 Grand Street is the temporary home to 208 asylum-seeking families, including families with young children. Help us welcome our new neighbors by ensuring they have the resources they need to start rebuilding their lives. While the asylum status of the individuals is pending, they will have limited sources of income on top of the little to no possessions they arrived with. To help with the burden, we are fundraising to purchase gift cards that can be utilized towards necessities.

All donations are tax-deductible and will go towards our Sik Faan Fund. “Sik fa-an” 食飯 means “let’s eat!” in Cantonese. The Sik Faan Fund provides fresh and nutritious food and essential goods to distribute to at-risk residents.

New or very gently used clothing, school supplies, diapers and shoes can be dropped off at Councilmember Marte's office on 65 East Broadway, Monday - Friday, 10a - 6p.

Welcome to Chinatown is a project of Players Philanthropy Fund, a Maryland charitable trust recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID: 27-6601178). Contributions to Welcome to Chinatown are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
