Our dear elderly neighbor and friend here in Manila has been living in a run-down RV that finally gave out last winter. After years of leaks, the roof collapsed, leaving him without safe shelter; and with mold, critters, and the cold to contend with. He hasn’t had hot water in years and depends on us for showers, laundry, and even Wi-Fi just to get by.
You probably know him as the kind neighbor who takes my dogs to the beach every day, keeps an eye on the neighborhood, and has been part of this community for nearly 20 years. Sadly, his rental situation is no longer safe or sustainable, and in Humboldt there are few resources for seniors facing circumstances like his. Manila is his whole world, and we want to help him remain here.
I’ve found a very reasonably priced camper nearby that I believe will be a perfect fit. The sellers are warm-hearted and eager to see their project go to someone who truly needs it. It has a small leak but is otherwise expected to be in good working order; aside from the engine, which means it will need to be towed.
While a couple of neighbors are pitching in with logistics, I willI really be incurring the cost. I could use some help covering my expenses. Thank you so much for your kindness and care in helping us make this possible.
